Pune: Four workers were killed and one was seriously injured on Sunday after a glass consignment fell on them at a glass manufacturing unit in Maharashtra's Pune city. They were unloading the consignment from a truck when the tragic incident took place.


The glass manufacturing unit is located at Yewalewadi in Katraj area. According to the police the incident occurred at around 1.30 pm, news agency PTI reported.


A fire offiicial said that the fire department initially received a call that five to six workers were trapped at a glass manufacturing unit as they were unloading glass stock. A team of fire brigade personnel was present at the site, the official said.


The fire personnel pulled out five workers from under the heavy glass consignment. They had sustained injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital. Four of them succumbed to their injuries while one of them is undergoing a treatment at the hospital.  


Police personnel are present the accident spot and a probe has been initiated into the incident.






Meanwhile, DCP R Raja, Zone 5-Pune City Police, said: "This incident occurred somewhere in today's afternoon. Some of the labourers were trying to offload the heavy-duty glasses at the glass factory. During this, the glass fell on them. Four labourers have died and three are injured...Further investigation is underway..."






1 Killed, 3 Injured As Welding Machine Explodes In Delhi


A man was killed and three others sustained severe burn injuries after a welding machine exploded in Delhi's Dwarka on Sunday morning. The deceased has been identified as 36-year-old Maya Ram, a resident of Bijwasan area. 


The injured, Rakesh (32), Faiyaz (22), Sameer (23), are under treatment at the Safdarjung Hospital. Police is under the process of filing an FIR.   


"We received a PCR call regarding some people getting injured when a welding machine exploded while working in an oil tanker in Bharthal village located near Sector 25 in Dwarka. A team was rushed to the spot and the injured were immediately hospitalised at the Indira Gandhi Hospital," a senior police officer told PTI.


A mobile crime team inspected the spot of the blast and teams have been formed to investigate the case.
