Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will take oath as the MP from Wayanad Lok Sabha Seat on November 28 (Thursday), her husband Robert Vadra said, after Congress leaders from the seat handed over the election certificate to her.
Thanking the people of Wayaand, Vadra said, "It's very happy time. People were waiting for this time that Priyanka should be in Parliament. She will be taking oath (as Lok Sabha MP) tomorrow. She will be part of the Parliament, and I think it is overdue. She will take up all the issues that people desire. I am very thankful to the people of Wayanad that they made her win with a very great margin."
"In Parliament, she will be bringing up everything that the ruling party does not want to talk about... there's unemployment, women's safety, farmers issues and every other issue that needs to be talked about," he said.
Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi was seen treating Priyanka Gandhi with sweets. Priyanka extended her heartfelt gratitude to the people of Wayanad for their overwhelming support and trust. She expressed her deep appreciation of the leaders for their unwavering efforts during the election.
Priyanka won the Wayanad Lok Sabha bypoll with a thumping margin of over four lakh votes, surpassing her brother Rahul Gandhi's victory margin in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, in her electoral debut.
The 52-year-old Congress leader defeated Sathyan Mokeri of the CPI(M)-led LDF by securing more than six lakh votes to succeed her brother, Rahul Gandhi, in the hill constituency, which he had won twice since the 2019 elections.
