The Prayagraj Commissionerate has issued prohibitory orders till February 28 in view of several festivals including Maha Kumbh Mela and competitive exams. In a notice, the commissionerate stated that an ex-parte order is being passed to maintain the law and order situation in the district.
"In view of the communal sensitivity of the district, on the basis of information received from reliable sources, I am satisfied that there is a possibility of anti-social elements creating disruption in law and order in the district," the order read.
The order comes ahead of various festivals and events including the birth anniversary of Karpuri Thakur, Republic Day, Mauni Amavasya, Basant Panchmi, Sant Ravidas Jayanti, Maghi Purnima, Valentine's Day, Shab-e-Barat, Mahashivratri, along with various competitive exams.
"In view of the urgency of the situation, unavoidable circumstances, adequate reasons and grounds, an ex parte order is passed without hearing or giving notice to any other party," the order stated further.
Under the order, no person will be allowed to organise any kind of event, procession, fast, dharna, demonstration etc without permission of the competent authority.
Except at the designated protest site, near Patthar Girja, no person or organisation will be allowed to protest anywhere in the district or give such a provocative speech which may hurt the sentiments of a person or a community.

The administration has also restricted the use of drones on the occasion of traditional religious events in the entire area of the Police Commissionrate without prior permission. Drones used by police and for administration work will only be exempted.
For safety purposes, no one will be allowed to carry a baton, stick, or any kind of deadly weapon or firearm within the jurisdiction of the commissionerate. Saber carried by disabled, elderly and Sikh persons has been exempted.
