Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday extended wishes on the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivratri, wishing people with good health and hoping for a stronger resolve for 'Viksit Bharat'. President Droupadi Murmu also extended her greetings, praying for divine blessings and continued progress of India.
Sharing a video in a post on social media platform X, PM Modi wrote: "I wish all my countrymen a very happy Mahashivratri, a festival dedicated to Lord Shiva. May this divine occasion bring happiness, prosperity and good health to all of you, and also strengthen the resolve for a Viksit Bharat. Har Har Mahadev!"
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath performed Rudrabhishek of Lord Shiva at Gorkhnath temple in Gorakhpur.
President Murmu wrote on X, "I extend my heartfelt greetings to all my countrymen on the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri. I pray that the blessings of the Supreme God Mahadev remain on all of us and that our country continues to move ahead on the path of progress."
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also extended his Maha Shivratri greetings, stressing the festival's spiritual and introspective significance.
"Heartiest greetings to all countrymen on the holy festival of Mahashivratri. This festival of the union of Shiva and Shakti is a great festival of spirituality, introspection, and faith. I pray to Devadhidev Mahadev for the welfare of all," he posted on X.

The newly-appointed Chief Minister of Delhi Rekha Gupta also extended greetings and shared photos from the puja ceremony at a temple in the city. Extending her greetings, Delhi CM Rekha Gupta wished for the Delhi's and country's progress. "I want to extend my best wishes to the people of the country on the occasion of Maha Shivratri. I pray that the blessings of Bhole Nath stay with us and that Delhi and the country progress," she told news agency ANI.
Gupta also stated in a post on X: "On the auspicious occasion of Mahashivaratri, I had the divine experience of peace and spiritual energy while offering prayers at the Gauri Shankar Temple in Chandni Chowk, along with the popular MP of the Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha constituency, Shri @praveendel Ji. I pray to Lord Mahadev for the welfare of all people."
There is a huge rush of devotees at the Maha Kumbh today as it is the last day of the mega religious gathering. Pilgrims are thronging the Triveni Sangam for the final holy dip on the occasion of Maha Shivratri.
