Noida News: An engineer allegedly died by suicide in Noida alleging mental stress due to unemployment and jibes from his live-in partner as reasons for the extreme step. The man was found hanging from a fan by his live-in partner after she returned home from work on Friday evening. She informed the police and a team from the Sector 113 police station sent the body for a post-mortem, NDTV reported.
Mayank Chandel, a resident of Shahjahanpur in UP, had been in a live-in relationship with the woman from Banda for four years. The couple, who had known each other since college, lived near Shaurya Banquet Hall in Noida's Sector 73.
Chandel was stressed because he was not getting a job, while the woman worked in a private company. As per NDTV, he wrote in his suicide note that his partner used to taunt him over his unemployment, saying he was sitting at home and eating all day. He said he was dying by suicide because of all these reasons but did not blame anyone. An official said Chandel's family has also been informed.
The incident comes days after an AI engineer, Atul Subhash, died by suicide alleging harassment by his wife, Nikita Singhania, in Bengaluru. The man in a 24-page note alleged that she was asking him to pay Rs 2 to 4 lakh for maintenance and was using their four-year-old son. The man also questioned the judicial system in India and tagged US President Donald Trump and Tesla CEO Elon Musk in a 90-minute video message.
Nikita had filed a case of assault and criminal intimidation against him in 2022 after things turned sour between the couple during COVID-19. Nikita in her complaint had alleged that after marriage, her husband and his parents were dissatisfied with what her family gave them during the wedding and demanded Rs 10 lakh more, PTI reported.
