Telangana Forests and Environment Minister, Konda Surekha, has alleged Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President, K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), of being responsible for the separation of actors Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu. In a press conference on Wednesday, Surekha launched a scathing attack on KTR, alleging that he had influenced several actresses to leave the film industry and marry early.
She also claimed that KTR was addicted to drugs and used blackmail tactics against film personalities, as reported by IANS.
The Congress leader further alleged that KTR was behind a derogatory social media post against her, suggesting that the BRS leader instructed party workers to target her with offensive comments. Surekha expressed her displeasure over such posts targeting leaders including fellow politicians Minister Seethakka and Greater Hyderabad Mayor Gadwal Vijayalaxmi. She reiterated that she had lodged a complaint against those responsible for the posts, as per the report.
In response to these explosive allegations, veteran actor Nagarjuna Akkineni, Naga Chaitanya's father, issued a strong statement condemning Konda Surekha's remarks. He called the minister's comments "completely irrelevant and false" and urged her not to drag the personal lives of film stars, who prefer to stay away from politics, into political discourse.
Nagarjuna said, "I strongly condemn the comments of the Honorable Minister Mrs. Konda Surekha. Don't use the lives of movie stars who stay away from politics to criticize your opponents. Please respect other people's privacy. As a woman in a responsible position, your comments and accusations against our family are completely irrelevant and false. I request you to withdraw your comments immediately."
