Mumbai is expected to receive moderate rain and thundershowers on Friday after heavy rain on Wednesday wreaked havoc in the city.
According to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, Mumbai is likely to experience a generally cloudy sky throughout the day with the possibility of moderate rain and thundershowers in the city and suburbs.
Other districts in the Konkan and Goa region are also expected to receive moderate to very heavy rainfall on Friday, said the India Meteorological Department.
Light to moderate rainfall is very likely to occur at most places in the districts of North Madhya Maharashtra, at many places in the districts of South Madhya Maharashtra, and at a few places in the districts of Marathwada, said the weather department.
The heavy rain on Wednesday disrupted routine lives in the metropolitan leading to the death of four people in Mumbai and three people in Thane.
A 45-year-old woman died after drowning in an overflowing open manhole in suburban Andheri on Wednesday night. She was taken to Cooper Hospital by police where she was declared brought dead.
Mumbai police registered a case against BMC for negligence while the civic body also ordered a probe into the incident. The BMC formed a three-member panel led by the Deputy Commissioner and sought a report on the incident within three days.
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and former Maharashtra minister Aaditya Thackeray slammed the Eknath Shinde government over the flooding in Mumbai and other parts of the state.
Addressing a press conference on Thursday, Thackeray said the Western Express Highway in Mumbai, a major connecting road in the western suburbs, was flooded on Wednesday, an occurrence reported only after the July 26 rains in 2005.
He also alleged that the mechanism to provide relief to people in Mumbai was absent at a time when such incidents took place.
