Mumbai News: Mumbai Police are investigating a case of alleged obscenity during a Ram Navami procession in Mumbai. The matter came to light when a video of obscene songs being played during the procession went viral.

The video of the rally, which passed through Andheri Airport Road Metro Station and near Marol Naka during Ram Navami, was circulated on social media platforms, showing obscene songs being played, leading to controversy. Following this, the police took cognisance and initiated action.

DCP Zone 8 Manish Kalwania stated that Sahar Police registered an FIR on 8 April under sections 296 and 3(5) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The police said that the use of obscene language in a public place during the rally hurt religious sentiments, which is a violation of the law.

Notice Issued For Further Investigation

Following the FIR, the police have issued notices to three individuals, including the organisers of the procession and the DJ operator, for questioning and further investigation. The police emphasised the importance of maintaining decorum and social harmony during public events.

Warning to strictly adhere to guidelines

Mumbai Police have also contacted the platform 'X' and requested the removal of the video to prevent any communal tension. Officials have assured that steps are being taken to prevent a recurrence of such incidents.

The organisers have been warned to strictly adhere to guidelines in future events. Sahar Police are seriously investigating the matter and have assured strict action against those found guilty.
