A Maharashtra Navnirman Sena worker was beaten to death in Mumbai's Malad area on Saturday after a dispute over an autorickshaw hitting his vehicle. 


The victim was identified as Akash Maeen, 28, who was with his parents at the time of the dispute. 


On Saturday, the auto driver hit Akash's car while overtaking at Shivaji Chowk leading to an argument between them after which a group of people gathered in support of the driver and assaulted the MNS worker, reported PTI. 


He was kicked and punched leaving him with serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his wounds, said an official. 


"Based on CCTV footage, we held six persons on Sunday and three on Monday. They have been charged under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for murder and other offences," the official added. 


The incident was caught on camera and the video has since gone viral. As per the video, a mob can be seen kicking and beating the man while a woman, apparently his mother laid over his body to protect him from the accused. 


As per media reports, the victim's father was also severely injured in the incident. 


The deceased victim lived in Hyderabad with his wife who is employed there while he also ran a tour and travel business in the city. The couple has come to Maeen's parents' place in Mumbai for Dussehra, according to a report by the Indian Express. 


Six of the nine accused arrested in connection with the matter were identified as Vinash Namdev Kadam, Amit Joginder Vishwakarma, Aditya Dinesh Singh, Jayaprakash Deepak Amte, Rakesh Malku Dhawale and Sahil Sikandar Kadam.


According to the police, Avinash Kadam already had cases registered against him at Pantnagar and Borivali police stations for causing hurt and accidents. Aditya Singh and Jaiprakash Amte have also been earlier booked in cases of assault in Dindoshi police station.
