Oshiwara Fire: A massive fire broke out in a furniture godown in Oshiwara, Andheri area of ​​Mumbai on Tuesday. Eight fire brigade vehicles reached the spot to douse the blaze. Videos from the spot showed a thick blanket of smoke covering the area near the market.

An official said there was no report of casualty in the blaze that erupted around 11.30 am in the market on Swami Vivekanand Marg. He said more than 20 fire engines, water tankers and other equipment have been pressed into service to contain the fire that has been categorised as Level 2 (major). The official said the blaze began at a furniture godown and spread to the adjacent shops on the ground floor of the market. He added that the exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

Fire Breaks Out At Girls' School In Kolkata

A fire broke out inside the premises of a private girls' school in the Ballygune area in Kolkata on Tuesday. No one was injured in the fire as the school was closed due to some construction work, they said.

Two fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the blaze which broke out at around 12.25 pm in the junior section of the school located at Palm Avenue, the police said. The fire was doused at around 12.50 pm.

It was probably due to some electrical short circuit from the air-conditioning machine inside the school, the officer told PTI. At the moment firefighters were conducting the cooling process, he added.
