A man rushing home after learning of his wife's death died in a bike accident in Uttar Pradesh's Bareilly.
Sanjay, aged 28, was travelling on a motorcycle with his younger brother Rinku when a vehicle hit them on National Highway 24 late Monday night. The collision's impact threw both brothers onto the road, along with their motorcycle. Bystanders alerted the police, who rushed them to the hospital.
Sanjay died on the spot, while Rinku suffered serious injuries. He is receiving treatment at a private hospital in Bareilly, Superintendent of Police (North) Mukesh Chandra Mishra said.
A Tragic Chain Of Events
Sanjay, a resident of Ramuapur Raghuveer village in Bahraich's Kaiserganj Police Station area, worked as a labourer in Punjab. Upon receiving news of his wife's death, he immediately left for home with his brother. However, his journey ended in tragedy.
“Doctors declared Sanjay dead on arrival, while Rinku remains in critical condition,” Mishra said. “Sanjay’s body was sent for post-mortem and has now been transported to Bahraich," the Superintendent of Police said.
Double Tragedy For The Family
Sanjay married Pooja six years ago and the couple has a four-year-old daughter. The family had been preparing for a joyous occasion, as Pooja was due to deliver their second child on Monday. However, she died during childbirth at a hospital in Bahraich.
The bereaved family has decided to perform the last rites for both Sanjay and Pooja together.
Meanwhile, Mirganj police have registered a case against the unidentified vehicle and launched an investigation.
"We are scanning CCTV footage from the area to trace the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run," Mishra said.
