Maharashtra recorded 59 new coronavirus positive cases and one death on Thursday, taking the total infection count in the state since January this year to 2,228 and fatality figure to 32, the health department said.
The latest death was reported at Miraj in Sangli district, it said.
Of the new cases, 13 each were recorded in Mumbai and Pune cities, 10 in Chandrapur, eight in Pimpri Chinchwad (near Pune), six in Kolhapur, two each in Satara and Nagpur, and one each in the civic body limits of Thane, Navi Mumbai, Panvel and Sangli city as well as its rural parts.
The health department has conducted 23,923 COVID-19 tests across the state since January, it said, adding that as of now 1,807 patients have recovered.
A total of 912 cases of the infection have been detected in Mumbai, including 435 in May and 471 in June.
Since January 2025 till date, total 32 patients have died, of whom 31 had comorbidities, while one was suffering from another disease.
