The sacred city of Varanasi witnessed an overwhelming turnout of devotees on the first Monday of the holy month of Sawan, with thousands thronging the iconic Kashi Vishwanath Temple for darshan. In view of the massive rush, security arrangements were significantly stepped up to ensure smooth crowd management and safety of pilgrims.
Monday mornings in Sawan, hold immense religious importance among devotees of Lord Shiv. Starting early at dawn, long queues formed outside the temple complex as worshippers waited patiently to offer water and perform rituals.

Security Measures Strengthened To Handle Influx
With the expected surge in footfall, authorities deployed additional police personnel and additional forces. Drone monitoring has also been intensified to manage the crowd and avert any untoward incident.
Along with heightened security, medical facilities have also been arranged at multiple points around the Kashi Vishwanath temple to ensure the safety and well-being of devotees during the Sawan rush.
The Sawan month, considered highly auspicious for Lord Shiv’s worship, will continue to see such rush every Monday till mid-August.
Devotees Welcomed With Rose Petals At Kashi Vishwanath Temple
The Varanasi district administration greeted devotees visiting the Kashi Vishwanath temple on the first Monday of Sawan by showering them with flower petals.
The event was carried out under the supervision of top officials including Police Commissioner Mohit Agarwal, District Magistrate Satyendra Kumar, CEO Vishwa Bhushan Mishra, Special Executive Officer Pawan Prakash Pathak, and Naib Tehsildar Mini L Shekhar. Their presence ensured a smooth and respectful start to the holy month’s festivities.
This warm welcome not only honoured the devotees’ faith but also reflected the administration’s effort to make the pilgrimage memorable and peaceful.
