JMM leader Mahua Maji sustained injuries on Wednesday while returning from Maha Kumbh after the car she was travelling in hit a truck parked on the roadside in Jharkhand's Latehar district.

The incident took place in the early hours of Wednesday on NH-75 near Hotwag village around 2:30 AM when Maji, a Rajya Sabha member, was returning after participating in the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. She was admitted to a private hospital in Ranchi and is said to have suffered a fracture in her left wrist. 

Her family members, including her so and daughter-in-law, who were also present in the car with her, also suffered minor injuries, police told news agency PTI.

Sadar police station in-charge Dular Chowde said that Maji was immediately taken to the Sadar Hospital where she was given first-aid and then referred to RIMS-Ranchi for better treatment.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren wished for Maji's speedy recovery.

"Honourable Rajya Sabha MP and senior JMM leader Mrs Mahua Majhi ji and her family members have been reported injured in a road accident. I wish for the speedy recovery of Mrs Mahua ji and her family from Marang Buru," he posted on X.

Around three men were killed and seven others were injured on Monday when their SUV crashed into a truck on a roadside in Madhya Pradesh's Rewa district. The accident took place when they were returning from Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj.

The incident took place on NH-30, located 40 km from the Rewa district headquarters, at around 10:30 PM after the SUV driver dozed off, Mangawa police station house officer Varsha Sonkar told news agency PTI.
