A major accident has occurred in Jharkhand due to collision between two goods trains. Two people are reported dead, while four are injured.
The accident happened on the Farakka-Lalmatiya MGR railway line in Sahibganj district. As per the information, the empty goods train was stationed at Barhait MT when a coal-loaded through-pass goods train, heading from Lalmatiya, collided with it. The engines of both the goods trains were blown to pieces and a fire broke out.
As soon as the information was received, the fire brigade reached the spot and the fire was extinguished. Both the loco pilots have died in the accident. One body was sent to the hospital, while till the time of writing the news, the second body is stuck in the goods train.
At the same time, the four people who have been reported injured are all railway workers and CISF jawans. All the injured have been sent to the nearby community health center for treatment. At present, the administration team has reached the spot and is trying to find the cause of the accident.
The accident happened around 3:30 AM on Tuesday. After the accident, the operation of goods trains has been affected and the line has been closed. The railway department is investigating the accident and efforts are being made to find out the cause of the collision. As per the details, local people along with railway employees helped in relief and rescue work.
Coaches Of Bengaluru-Kamakhya AC Express Derail In Odisha
An express train derailed in Odisha's Cuttack district on Sunday, an official said, PTI reported.
Eleven coaches of the SMVT Bengaluru-Kamakhya AC Express derailed at Nirgundi near Manguli at 11.54 am, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of the East Coast Railway Ashok Kumar Mishra said, and added that no injury or casualty was reported.
