A Hyderabad-bound IndiGo flight from Kuwait made an emergency landing in Mumbai on Tuesday after it was diverted to the city due to a bomb threat. The Airbus A321neo aircraft, operating as flight 6E1234, safely landed at Mumbai airport at 7:45 am.
The full emergency response was activated after a bomb threat email was received at Hyderabad airport around 6:33 am. A Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC) convened at Hyderabad quickly classified the threat as “specific,” prompting immediate action, PTI reported.
"Full emergency was declared for IndiGo flight 6E1234, which was diverted here due to a bomb threat e-mail received at the Hyderabad airport, at 6.33 am Tuesday," an official said.
While the airline did not disclose details about the number of passengers on board, IndiGo issued a statement confirming that, as per protocol, the relevant authorities were informed right away. The airline emphasised that security measures were meticulously followed to ensure the safety of everyone on the aircraft.
"A security threat was received for IndiGo flight 6E1234 operating from Kuwait to Hyderabad on December 2, due to which the aircraft was diverted to Mumbai," the airline spokesperson said.
This incident underscores the swift response of aviation and security agencies in handling potential threats, prioritsing passenger safety at all times.
