One person suffered serious injuries after an explosion occured at an illegal gas filling station in Bagh Ameer area of Kukatpally on Tuesday. The injured shop owner has been identified as Shankar. He was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.
The CCTV footage of the incident, which has gone viral, showed a motorcyclist stopping outside the shop just moments before the explosion, reported Free Press Journal. As the blast occured, the biker was seen abandoning his vehicle and fleeing the scene.
The mishap reportedly took place at 11 AM. The injured was reportedly refiling gas into small cylinders illegally at the gas services shop, as per a report on Telangana Today.
Local authorities have launched an investigation, with preliminary findings pointing to improper storage and handling of flammable materials at the unauthorised facility.
Cracker Explosion In Andhra Pradesh
In a separate incident, a massive cracker explosion occurred in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, on Monday, injuring four people. The explosion took place at Balaji Exports, a transport facility, while workers were unloading cracker parcels that had arrived from Hyderabad.
The viral CCTV footage of the incident showed at least six porters unloading the goods at 8:19 AM. One of the labourers dropped a large carton covered in a white sheet, which suddenly exploded, triggering a loud blast and forcing the workers to run for their lives.
The injured were immediately taken to Government General Hospital for treatment. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the explosion, with initial reports suggesting that the crackers were improperly stored or handled.
