A man sustained a minor injury while another went missing after a boat caught fire during a fireworks display at Hussain Sagar Lake in Hyderabad on Sunday. 

The incident took place shortly after Union Minister G Kishan Reddy and Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Verma departed from the venue. 

According to police, the boat caught fire after one of the ignited firework rockets accidentally struck a pile of crackers stored in the boat, sparking a blaze, reported the Times of India. 

The fireworks were part of the 'Bharat Mata Maha Arti' event organised by the Bharat Mata Foundation to commemorate Republic Day.

Several notable figures were in attendance at the event including BJP MPs Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, Eatala Rajendar, M Raghunandan Rao, and renowned music director M M Keeravani, among others.

The injured man was rushed to a hospital where he was being treated for minor burns, officials told TOI. 

A youth named Ajay from Nagaram went missing after the mishap, as per Telangana Today. On Monday, the missing youth's family reached Hussain Sagar and informed police officials that he had been missing since the previous night. 

The family requested a search operation to locate him. 

The civic authorities and police launched a joint search operation in the lake with two request teams at the request of the family. As per the report, Ajay was accompanied by a friend who was safe, as per the Telangana Today report. 

There were 15 people on the boats when the mishap took place. Luckily, all 15 people narrowly escaped a tragedy, however, the fire spread from one boat to the other severely damaging the boats.
