Former Haryana Minister Satpal Sangwan passed away on Monday at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram. The 83-year-old minister had been unwell for a long time.
As per the details, Sangwan was suffering from liver cancer and was admitted to the hospital for the treatment, after his condition deteriorated. The current MLA of Dadri and his son Sunil Sangwan was attending him in the hospital for several days, but there was no improvement in his health.
As soon as the news of Satpal Sangwan's death was received, a large number of people reached his residence to pay tribute. His last rites will be performed today at 2 PM in his native village Chandeni in Dadri district.
Political journey of Satpal Sangwan
Satpal Sangwan's political career was long and impressive. He contested elections from Charkhi Dadri assembly constituency six times. He also became MLA twice. He became MLA for the first time in 1996 on the ticket of Haryana Vikas Party. For the second time in 2009, he reached the assembly by winning the election from HJC (Haryana Janhit Congress). Later HJC merged with Congress, after which he became the Cooperative Minister in the Bhupendra Singh Hooda government.
Satpal Sangwan also contested elections on the tickets of Congress and Jannayak Janata Party (JJP). He was a popular leader among the people and he contributed significantly to the development of the region. Many political leaders have expressed grief over his demise. At the same time, supporters believe that his departure is a big loss for the region.
