At least seven people were killed and 15 injured after a bus carrying pilgrims from Maha Kumbh Mela fell into a gorge in Gujarat's Dang district on Sunday. 


The incident took place at around 5:30 am on Sunday when a private bus returning from Prayagraj fell into a 200-foot gorge ono the Nasik-Surat Highway in Saputara Valley in Gujarat's Dang district. 


According to preliminary information, the accident took place as the driver lost control of the bus. 


All the deceased and injured were from Madhya Pradesh.






Another incident took place in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur Dehat where a bus carrying pilgrims collided with a truck killing one person while dozens of others were injured. 


The bus, carrying 40-50 pilgrims was returning from Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj to Chittorgarh when the driver fell asleep and hit the bus in the truck that was moving ahead. 


The incident took place near Bara toll plaza under Akbarpur police station limits.


Five Nepali Pilgrims Killed In Bihar 


In a similar incident, five Nepal nationals were killed while returning from Maha Kumbh mela as their car hit a divider and overturned in Bihar's Muzaffarpur district on Saturday.


The accident took place on the Madhubani four-lane bypass when the speeding SUV tried to avoid crashing into a biker performing stunts, reported NDTV. 


The impact of the car hitting the divider was such that the SUV flipped over five times.


Nine people were travelling in the car of whom five died while four others were critically injured. The victims have been identified as Archana Thakur, Indu Devi, Mantarni Devi, Bal Krishna Jha, and the driver. The injured are Manohar Thakur, Srishti Thakur, Kamni Jha, and Devtaran Devi.


Eyewitnesses recounted the incident calling it chaotic adding distressing screams echoed from the crash site. 


As per the eyewitnesses, some men were performing stunts on the road and in order to avoid hitting them, the SUV driver turned the wheel hitting the divider. Had the speeding car not turned the wheel, it could have hit one of the bikers, the eyewitnesses said.
