Mumbaikars are celebrating Gudi Padwa, which marks the beginning of the Marathi New Year, with grandeur.
Nav Varsh Swagat Yatras or Shobha Yatras are two of the most notable aspects of the city's Gudi Padwa celebrations. Although similar processions are held all throughout the Mumbai Metropolitan Area, one of the most well-known is the Shobha Yatra in Girgaon.
The celebratory atmosphere is enhanced by the fact that men wear kurta-pyjamas and ladies wear traditional Kasta saris during the Yatra. One of the event's distinctive features is the bike rally, where women and other participants decorate their bikes and ride together in celebration.
