A green flag put up at a temple on Eid triggered tension in a village in Maharashtra's Beed district on Monday.
A festival was held in the Pachegaon village of Beed, and an annual yatra was taken out from the Kanifnath temple there on the occasion of Gudi Padwa on Sunday.
Some persons put up a green flag at the temple besides a saffron flag on Monday, when Eid was celebrated. This led to tension in the village for sometime, an official from the Georai police station told PTI.
The police arrived at the spot and pacified local residents belonging to two different communities on Monday and brought the situation under control, they said.
No case has been registered in this connection, the official said.
The incident comes days after gelatin sticks, planted inside a mosque in the same district, triggered a blast ahead of Gudi Padwa and Ramzan Eid celebrations.
The internal portion of the structure suffered damage in the explosion that occurred at around 2.30 am in Ardha Masla village. Locals alleged that the accused, identified as Vijay Rama Gavhane (22) and Sriram Ashok Sagde (24), allegedly attempted to blow up the mosque following a scuffle between two groups during a ‘Sandal’ procession on Saturday night.
One of the accused entered the mosque from the rear and planted gelatin sticks, resulting in the blast, officials said.
