A fire broke out at the Gaffar Market in Delhi's Karol Bagh area. Four fire tenders have rushed to the spot. Fire tenders were rushed to the area that houses several electronic shops.

In July, a massive fire at a five-storey departmental store in Karol Bagh claimed two lives, exposing serious safety violations at the premises, officials said.

One of the victims, 25-year-old Kunwar Dhirendra Vikram, a civil services aspirant, was found dead inside a stalled elevator where he is believed to have suffocated after the blaze broke out. The second casualty, 30-year-old Pawan Gautam, was trapped on the store’s second floor while shopping. His charred body was recovered after rescue operations concluded.

Investigations revealed that the building lacked a mandatory fire no-objection certificate and had no functional firefighting systems in place. Police then registered a case of death by negligence against the store’s owner, said DCP (Central) Nidhin Valsan. The tragedy has once again raised concerns about fire safety compliance in crowded commercial hubs of the capital.
