The air quality in Delhi was almost in the 'severe plus' category with an Air Quality Index of 448 on Thursday morning, according to the Air Quality Early Warning and Decision Support System.
The air quality in many pockets in the national capital plummeted as the station recorded air quality way above the 'severe plus' mark despite stage IV of GRAP being reimposed.
An AQI between zero and 50 is considered "good", 51 and 100 "satisfactory", 101 and 200 "moderate", 201 and 300 "poor", 301 and 400 "very poor", 401 and 450 "severe" and above 450 "severe-plus".

Given the hazardous air quality in Delhi, the Centre's air quality panel for the national capital and adjoining regions imposed the strictest Stage IV curbs under the Graded Response Action plan.
Stage IV mandates the bans on entry of polluting trucks carrying non-essential goods into Delhi and shifting of classes, except those for classes 10 and 12, to hybrid mode.
It also bans construction and demolition activities including public projects such as highways, flyovers, power lines and pipelines.
Coldwave Keeps Delhi In Grip
Coldwave conditions also continue to chill Delhi with India Meteorological Department issuing a yellow alert for Thursday and the next three days. A layer of fog engulfed the city on Thursday morning with the minimum temperature recorded at 5 degrees Celsius while the maximum temperature was 23 degrees Celsius.
The weather station in Narela recorded the lowest temperature at 4.5 degrees Celsius followed by Pusa (5.1°C), Ayanagar (5.2°C), Gurugram (5.6°C), Lodhi Road (6.4°C), CDO Ghaziabad (6.9°C), NCMRWF-Noida (6.9°C), Najafgarh (7.1°C), Palam (7.4°C), Ridge (7.5°C), SPS Mayur Vihar (8°C), Raj Ghat (9.1°C), and Pitampura (10.4°C).
