Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has declared Wednesday, February 12, as a holiday for all government offices, autonomous bodies and public undertakings, under the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi, on account of Guru Ravidas Jayanti. This includes schools in Delhi.

The notification reads, "The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi is pleased to declare Wednesday, February 12, 2025, as a holiday in all government offices, autonomous bodies and public undertakings of the Delhi government, on account of Guru Ravidas Jayanti."

The restricted holiday on the occasion of Guru Ravidas Jayanti declared in November 2024 was cancelled.

Guru Ravidas Jayanti, marking the birth anniversary of the revered saint Guru Ravidas, will be celebrated on February 12. Also known as Raidas, Rohidas, or Ruhidas, Guru Ravidas was a spiritual leader and reformer of the Bhakti Movement, who was born in the 14th century.

His teachings highlighted the importance of equality, unity, and spiritual connection with God, inspiring countless people and leaving a lasting impact on India's spiritual and social traditions. Celebrations of Guru Ravidas Jayanti include processions and devotional singing.
