Delhi: A person was killed and eight others were injured after an under-construction hospital building collapsed in sector 12 Dwarka. The Delhi police said that a crime team has been informed to inspect the accident spot.
A case has also been registered. Further details are awaited.
The deceased was identified as 30-year-old woman named Devi. She was rushed to the IGI hospital along with the other injured persons, but was declared brought dead on arrival by the doctors.
The incident was brought to light after the staff of Dwarka North police station saw people gathered near an underconstruction building during patrolling in the area.
"The staff of the Dwarka North police station found a gathering near an under construction building/basement of a private hospital in Sector 12 near a petrol pump.It was revealed that the wall of an under construction basement had collapsed and a few people got trapped," a senior police officer told news agency PTI.
"Total nine injured were shifted to two different hospitals. One woman identified as Devi was declared brought dead the IGI Hospital," said the officer.

In another similar incident, a 35-year-old woman and her nine-year-old son were killed on July 25 after a wall of their kutcha house collapsed in Gujarat's Sabarkantha district. The incident took place in the early hours of Thursday at at Rajpur village in Himmatnagar taluka.
An inside wall of mud had apparently become weak due to the rains as a result of which it collapsed, Inspector V R Chauhan of Gambhoi police station told PTI.
"The woman's husband who was sleeping in the adjacent room was not injured.We have registered a case of accidental death and started further investigation," the official said.
