Another legal trouble mounts for Aam Aadmi Party leader Amanatullah Khan as Delhi Police is running a joint operation to arrest the Okhla MLA. The teams of South East District and Crime Branch, including Jamia Nagar police station, are conducting raids to arrest him.


As per the details, the police registered an FIR against Amanatullah on Monday under various sections for allegedly leading an attack on its team in Jamia Nagar on Monday, official said.






A police officer said that the incident took place in the Jamia Nagar area when the Crime Branch of the Delhi Police attempted to arrest one Shabaz Khan, who is wanted in an attempted murder case. However, the supporters of AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan reportedly confronted the police team due to which Shabaz fled from the spot. According to the police sources, Amanatullah Khan was present at the scene when the attack occurred allowing the accused to flee. 


Earlier, a case was registered against Amanatullah for allegedly violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) ahead of Delhi assembly elections. The case against him was filed after he was seen campaigning with more than 100 supporters in Zakir Nagar.


The case was registered under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with the punishment for disobeying orders given by public servants and Section 126 of The Representation of the People Act, 1951, which prohibits public meetings during a period of 48 hours ending with hour fixed for conclusion of poll.


In the recently held Delhi Assembly elections, Amanatullah Khan defeated Manish Chaudhary of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by 23,639 votes in Okhla Assembly seat. Amanatullah got 88,392 votes in this election, whereas BJP's Manish Chaudhary got 65,304 votes. Amanatullah has won the election from Okhla for the third consecutive time.
