While extending his Republic Day 2025 greetings, Lieutenant Governor of Delhi VK Saxena referred to the Delhi Assembly elections and stressed the need to make a well-informed choice while voting for a new government. 

L-G Saxena said, "The key to success for democracy lies in good governance. Democracy is the most important fundamental principle of the Constitution. Constitution gives us the freedom to elect government through our votes and decide whom we give the power to."

Saxena also warned against the use of social media and media to influence elections and urged citizens to choose between right and wrong without any pressure.

"For Delhi, this Republic Day is of special importance. A few days from today, we shall elect our new government. We have to remember that we shall not only elect a government but also choose a system that will impact every aspect of our lives for the next 5 years...For the past few years we have seen that on a global level, attempts have been made to influence elections through social media and media. As a citizen and voter, it should our aware effort that we choose right or wrong without any pressure," he said. 

Earlier on Friday, the Lieutenant Governor hosted the traditional 'At Home' ceremony at Raj Niwas in preparation for the upcoming Republic Day.

The guests at the event included freedom fighters, Padma Awardees from Delhi and students from government and private colleges. Those present in the function also included Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Pande, Delhi government ministers Kailash Gahlot, Saurabh Bhardwaj, Atishi and Imran Hussain, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari, and Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Ramvir Singh Bidhuri among others, a Raj Niwas statement said.
