A death threat was made against Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta via a late-night call to the Ghaziabad Police PCR. A joint search operation to trace the accused has been launched by the Ghaziabad and Delhi Police, news agency IANS reported.

According to Delhi Police, a person called the PCR of Ghaziabad Police last night and issued a death threat to CM Gupta. The phone call was made to the Ghaziabad PCR around 11 PM last night, following which they informed Delhi Police. The police are currently investigating the identity and location of the caller.

Ghaziabad DCP City confirmed that the call was received, but the caller’s phone was switched off afterward.

"North West District Police received this information from Ghaziabad Police late at night. Currently, Ghaziabad and Delhi Police are searching for the accused," Delhi Police said.

ACP Kotwali Nagar, Ritesh Tripathi said: "...Further investigation and action will be taken regarding the number from which the call was made.. Further investigation and action will be taken regarding the number from which the call was made."

Officials told news agency PTI that a call was received on the Dial 112 emergency helpline. "Responding to the alarming information, we informed the Delhi Police Control Room about the call," Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Ritesh Tripathi said.

"A police team rushed to Panchwati Colony, the location from where the call was reportedly made. However, we were unable to establish contact with the individual who had dialled 112," the officer added.

"Police teams have been pressed to identify the individual through surveillance," the ACP said.
