A CRPF jawan was shot dead in Haryana's Sonipat district, days after a clash during the Kanwar Yatra. The incident took place in Kheri Damkan village, where 29-year-old Krishna was killed by a bullet to the chest.
ACP Rishikant confirmed that an FIR has been registered based on a complaint by the victim's father, Balwant. He said Krishna had gotten into a dispute with two individuals during the pilgrimage, and four police teams are now working to trace the accused.
Krishna, posted in Chhattisgarh, had come home on leave around July 16-17. He went to Haridwar with friends to bring back dak kanwar, a ritual pilgrimage. While returning on July 22, he reportedly had a confrontation with a group of local youths from the same village.
On the night of the shooting, Krishna was walking with friends near Jolly Road when two youths from the village arrived in a vehicle. One of them pulled out a pistol and shot him in the chest — allegedly due to an old grudge. Krishna died on the spot.
His friends immediately informed the family, who then alerted the police. Officers reached the scene and launched an investigation. An FIR has been registered against two suspects, identified as Ajay and Nishant. Further probe is underway.
