A student died after jumping from the ninth floor of a private college building in Sector-22, Rohini, on Monday. The deceased has been identified as 18-year-old Parth Rawat, a first-year B.Com student. Delhi Police officials reported that the preliminary investigation suggested the student had died by suicide by jumping from the building.

No suicide note was found on the deceased, and the police are questioning other students who were present on the ninth floor at the time of the incident.

Parth was the only son in his family and lived with his mother in Ghaziabad's Chander Vihar.

A police officer stated that they received information about the incident on Monday afternoon, and the Aman Vihar police arrived at the scene immediately. The student was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. The police then sent the body to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Mangolpuri for a post-mortem and informed the family of the tragic incident.

On Monday, the PCR at police station Aman Vihar received a phone call about the student who was brought dead to the hospital. The police immediately visited the scene of the incident. However, while enquiring about the fall, police were told that the student had jumped off the 9th floor and died by suicide. 

Rohini district's Deputy Commissioner of Police, Amit Goyal, assured that all aspects of the case are being thoroughly investigated, including whether it was a suicide or an accident, Dainik Jagran reported. The police have also recovered the CCTV footage from the college and are using it to trace Parth's interactions with others before the incident. 

The proceedings under Section 194 of the BNS are currently underway.

In October 2024, a 21-year-old IIT Delhi student allegedly died by suicide by hanging from a ceiling fan in his hostel room. While the authorities said that they did not find a suicide note in the room, Kumar Yash, an M.Sc second-year student from Jharkhand's Deoghar, was under psychiatric treatment and had visited the IIT Hospital.

The room was closed from inside but his friend and IIT staff broke the window to enter his room. Kumar was found hanging using two towels. His friend and the institute's staff cut the towels and brought him down. 

In a similar incident, a JEE aspirant from Rajasthan's Bundi died by suicide at his grandfather's house in the Jawahar Nagar police station area in Kota on Saturday (January 18, 2025), just four days before his examination.  The deceased was identified as Manan Sharma, a student of Class 12.

Before hanging himself from the window angle, Manan was studying with his brother till late Friday night. Manan was called in the morning but did not answer the phone. His cousin, who was sleeping in a nearby room was called after a while. The cousin went to Manan's room and discovered him hanging from a noose.
