A driver swung open the door of a speeding car to spit gutkha while driving, causing the vehicle to flip over and crash after getting out of control, killing one man and critically injuring another in Chhattisgarh's Bilaspur on Monday. The driver was reportedly driving an Innova at more than 100 kmph when the accident occurred.
The entire incident was captured on CCTV and showed the Innova somersaulting down the road after hitting the divider and hitting two vehicles. The horrifying footage shows one of the passengers being ejected and slamming into a pole.
According to a report by Times Of India, one of the drivers of the other cars that were hit by the speeding vehicle was also injured. The deceased has been identified as 31-year-old cloth merchant from Chakarbhatha. He was returning after attending a late-night party on Sunday on the outskirts of Bilaspur 100km from Raipur. He had called a friend, Akash Chandani, around 1:30 AM to pick him up. Akash arrived with another friend, Pankaj Chhabra, in an Innova. While Pankaj sat in the front passenger seat, Akash was driving and Jackie was in the back. Akash suddenly opened the door while driving to spit gutkha on Bilaspur-Raipur highway and instantly lost control of the vehicle, which hit the divider and overturned multiple times before crashing.
All three occupants were thrown out of the vehicle due to the force as the car went hurtling down the highway. Jackie struck a metal structure near the divider after being flung violently out of the car, sustaining fatal injuries to his head, chest, and shoulders. He died on the spot. Akash and Pankaj were also slammed into the ground and suffered grievous injuries, the TOI report said.
