Residents of the Kumaran area near Mettukuppam, Thoraipakkam, first noticed a foul smell emanating from the spot on Thursday morning. The odour was traced to a container lying unattended in the vicinity. Suspicious of the source of the stench, the residents immediately alerted the police, according to a report on ABP Nadu.

Upon receiving the information, the Thoraipakkam police promptly arrived at the scene. After securing the area, they recovered the suitcase and discovered that the suitcase contained the body of a woman. The woman's body was sent to the hospital for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Later, police arrested one Manikandan from Sivaganga district. The police alleged that Manikandan killed Deepa with a hammer after a quarrel since she demanded money, as reported by DTNext.

The police, along with forensic experts, are now closely examining the scene and the suitcase to gather evidence. They have also started collecting preliminary information from residents in the area, hoping to uncover any leads about the circumstances surrounding the woman's death.
