Several neighbourhoods across Chennai will experience a scheduled power outage on Tuesday, 15 July 2025, as the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) carries out routine maintenance work. The temporary power cut will affect a wide stretch of the city, and residents are being advised to plan ahead.

Chennai Power Outage Timings

According to TNEB officials, electricity will be suspended from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm in the affected localities. The maintenance work is part of the board’s periodic effort to ensure the safety and efficiency of its infrastructure.

“Residents are requested to cooperate with field staff during the outage. Power supply will resume as soon as the work is completed,” the board said in a statement quoted by News18 Tamil.

The outage will affect a large number of residential colonies in and around the Thillai Ganga Nagar area. The full list includes:

The maintenance activity will also affect areas located along Chengunram Main Road, including:

With the shutdown spanning five hours, TNEB has advised residents to make suitable arrangements, especially those dependent on continuous power for health equipment, remote work, or small-scale commercial activity.
