If you're in Chennai, brace for a scheduled power cut today, July 14. Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) has announced temporary electricity outages across several neighbourhoods to carry out crucial feeder and infrastructure maintenance.

Power supply will be suspended between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM, and officials are urging residents in affected zones to make alternate arrangements to avoid disruption to their day.

Areas Affected on July 14

In Besant Nagar, the outage will impact multiple stretches, on Monday, July 14. These Include:

  • Malaviya Avenue (1st to 4th Street)

  • Sivakamipuram

  • Gangai Amman Koil Street

  • LIC Colony

  • Subramaniyam Colony

  • M.G. Road

  • R.K. Nagar Main Road

  • 1st to 3rd Cross Streets in Malaviya Avenue

The planned shutdown is linked to essential maintenance work on street feeders and structural systems, as per the utility.
