A 37-year-old waiter at a dhaba died, and his 28-year-old deaf colleague was injured after a late-night attack by a group of men in Sector 24 of Chandigarh on Wednesday (October 30).
According to a report by India Express, the deceased identified as Jaspreet Singh, was also known as Jassi, and the injured man as Akash. The incident occurred after four men arrived at the dhaba around 11 pm, requesting chicken.
The dhaba owner declined as it was closing time, leading to an argument. The group initially left but returned about 45 minutes later, armed with a cricket wicket and a sharp weapon, and attacked Jassi and Akash, who had stayed behind. Jassi suffered serious head injuries, while Akash raised an alarm.
Pankaj Kumar, the dhaba owner's son, took the victims to Government Multi-Speciality Hospital, Sector 16. Jassi was then transferred to PGI, where he later died. Akash, who sustained multiple head injuries, remained in treatment at GMSH-16.
