In a chilling incident from Rajasthan, a young woman was abducted from her house in Paota town in the Kotputli city in Kotputli-Behror district.
The incident took place around 1:20 pm on April 18 (Friday) in the Bhumika Plaza area, where the 20-year-old woman from Alwar district was living with her husband in a rented accommodation.
The suspects — about half a dozen men — arrived in an SUV and parked the vehicle in front of the woman's residence. The suspects, who had their faces hidden with a cloth, stormed into the couple's house and dragged the woman out of the house.
The men are then seen forcibly taking the woman in the SUV even as she struggles and resist being pulled into the vehicle. The incident happened on Friday noon in the presence of several onlookers. The incident was captured on a CCTV camera.
The couple had recently married against the wishes of the woman’s family. The woman was a resident of the Vijay Mandir area of Alwar district.
The eyewitnesses, including the husband, immediately alerted the police, who arrived on the spot and launched a search operation. The husband said that the family members of the woman and her relatives arrived in a Bolero, assaulted him and forcibly took away his wife.
The Rajasthan Police has been unable to trace the suspects or the whereabouts of the woman despite four days after the incident. A case has been registered at the Pragpura police station in Jaipur.
The police said that they are analysing the surveillance footage to identify the suspects and are working to rescue the woman.
"We are pursuing every lead and hope to recover the victim soon," an officer said. Meanwhile, the video of the daylight abduction has gone viral on social media, leading to outrage.
