A fresh controversy has emerged in the aftermath of the tragic stampede that claimed 11 lives near the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on June 4, as a parent of one of the victims has filed a police complaint alleging theft of gold ornaments from the deceased’s body. The complaint was lodged on Thursday at the Commercial Street Police Station, where the parent claimed that gold jewellery worn by the victim was missing after the body was brought in for post-mortem.
The theft allegedly occurred inside the autopsy section, raising serious concerns about security and oversight within the mortuary premises.
According to ANI, the complainant has requested an investigation into the missing valuables, which were reportedly intact when the body was taken to the post-mortem facility but were unaccounted for when it was handed back to the family.

BJP Demands CBI Probe Into Stampede
Earlier, Karnataka BJP demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe. On Saturday, Leader of the Opposition R Ashoka wrote to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, urging the transfer of the case to the central agency for a fair and impartial investigation.
Ashoka blamed the Congress government’s alleged negligence for the deaths of 11 youths and stated that critical questions surrounding the tragedy remain unanswered. Reflecting public concern, he cautioned against politicising the issue and stressed that a CBI inquiry is essential to ensure transparency and accountability.
"It still remains unclear who is truly responsible for the tragedy, and the public also has the same question," he said, as per IANS.
