Two women died after a light pole collapsed on them during ongoing road construction work in Saddaguntepalya, Baiyappanahalli, on Monday afternoon. The accident occurred at approximately 4 PM when a JCB machine, engaged in construction work, accidentally struck an electric pole. The impact caused the pole to topple onto the women as they walked along the roadside killing them instantly.


According to police, "Two pedestrians, including one pregnant woman, died when an electric pole fell on them after it was hit by an earthmoving vehicle in Byappanahalli."


The victims have been identified as Sumathi and Soni Kumari.  


Sumathi was a native of Tamil Nadu and Soni Kumari, who was four months pregnant, was from Bihar, as per a report on Times Now.

In another fatal accident near the Satellite Bus Stand on Mysuru Road in Byatarayanapura early Saturday morning, a 40-year-old truck driver died, two others suffered injuries, and over five vehicles damaged.


The deceased, identified as Jagan from Tamil Nadu, was driving a tanker truck at high speed towards Bapujinagar from Hosaguddadahalli around 4 AM. According to the police, Jagan lost control of the vehicle near the bus stand, crashing into two parked cabs on the left side of the road, as per The New Indian Express. The truck then struck another car before hitting the road median, colliding with an autorickshaw and a pedestrian.


In a separate incident near Byatarayanapura Junction in northern Bengaluru last week, a woman and her daughter were killed on the spot when a car, driven by a man in his 70s, rammed into them, reported Deccan Herald.
