If you live on the southern outskirts of Bengaluru, Karnataka, brace for power cuts for three days. From Friday, July 11-13, electricity supply will be disrupted between 6 AM and 8 PM across several parts of the city due to crucial infrastructure work on the Sarjapura-Attibele 66 kV line.
Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (Bescom) confirmed that the temporary outage is necessary to carry out the stringing of High-Temperature Low-Sag (HTLS) conductors on the single circuit line—an upgrade expected to improve the reliability of the power grid in the long run.
So, which areas will be affected?
A long list of localities serviced by three key stations will experience the scheduled blackouts.
From the 66/11 KV Attibele Station, the following areas are expected to see disruptions:
Yadavanahalli, Ichanguru, Vaddarapalya, Attibele Industrial Area, Balagaranahalli, Manchanahalli, Attibele Town, Mayasandra, Dasanapura, Balluru, Kamblipura, Chikkanahalli, Indlabele, Harohalli, and surrounding areas.
From the 66/11 KV Anekal Station, expect outages in Anekal Town, Kaval Hosahalli, Gowrenahalli, Haldenahalli, Hompalagatta, Choodenahalli, Honnakalahapura, Karapuru, Byagadadenhalli, Kada Agrahara, Chikkahagade, Doddahagade, and nearby areas.
From the 66/11 KV Samanduru Station, power supply will be affected in Samanduru, Rachammannahalli, Guddanahalli, Aravantigepura, P. Gollahalli, Telagarahalli, and Vanakanahalli.
Bescom hasn’t announced any backup alternatives for the affected areas, so residents are advised to plan accordingly, especially businesses, hospitals, and industries that depend on uninterrupted electricity.
Residents of these areas are advised to keep devices charged, stock up on essentials, and stay prepared. Taking basic steps might just help you ride through the outage without too much inconvenience.
