The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Tuesday published the updated draft electoral rolls, shortly after uploading the list of voters whose names were deleted under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process.
Official data show that more than 58 lakh voters have been removed from the rolls on grounds such as death, migration and non-submission of enumeration forms. After the deletions, the draft electoral rolls are expected to include 7,08,16,631 voters, down from 7,66,37,529 before the SIR exercise, a net reduction of 58,20,898 names.
Draft Rolls Available Online and Offline
The ECI said the revised draft electoral rolls would be available for public scrutiny both online and offline. The publication marks the formal beginning of the electoral process, with Assembly elections in the State due next year.
Voters can access the draft rolls through the ECI’s official portal, eci.gov.in, or via the website of the West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer at ceowestbengal.wb.gov.in. By entering their name or Elector’s Photo Identity Card (EPIC) number, voters can check whether their details appear in the updated list.
Those facing difficulty accessing the online rolls can verify their status through their local Block Development Office, contact their respective Booth Level Officers (BLOs), or seek help from Booth Level Assistants (BLAs) appointed by political parties.
What To Do If Your Name Is Missing
The Commission has also revised the list of voters exempted under this year’s electoral roll revision, detailing the reasons for deletion. These include voters whose names featured in the 2025 electoral rolls but have been excluded for 2026.
Voters can check this list on the official website ceowestbengal.wb.gov.in/asd_sir by entering their EPIC number or selecting their State or Assembly constituency.
If a voter finds their name missing from the draft rolls, the ECI has outlined a clear remedy. Affected individuals must fill and submit Form 6 along with Annexure-IV, either by submitting the documents to their BLO or by applying online through the ECI website or the ECINET mobile application.
The window for filing claims and objections will remain open from the date of publication of the draft electoral rolls until January 15, 2026, giving voters a limited period to ensure their names are restored before the final rolls are published.
