Raj Kanojia, 22, was returning from a fruit juice centre on the ill-fated Saturday night when Mumbai's upscale Bandra area was rocked with gunshots that killed NCP leader Baba Siddique.

The assailants had opened six rounds of fire of which two hit the former Maharashtra minister's chest outside his MLA son, Zeeshan Siddique's office.

Kanojia, who was passing by the area was hit by a stray bullet severely injuring his leg. He rues the fact that he will be out of action for two months when his family is having a crucial time with his sister's marriage slated for February.

"Madad kya sir ab toh pair main goli lag gayi hai. February main shadi hai sister ki. Do mahine kuch kar nahi paayege hum (What help, sir. I have been shot in the leg. My sister's wedding is in February. I won't be able to do much," he lamented.

Recounting the incident, Kanojia said that the atmosphere was such as if crackers were being burst. The assailants had burst crackers and opened fire under the cover of a thick smoke.

"I felt as if a cracker had exploded on my feet. When I checked, I found blood. Soon, chaos ensued. People started running everywhere. People shouted, there's been a firing, there's been a firing. Hobbling on one leg, I somehow reached the nearby temple. Some people took me inside and then I was taken to a hospital," Kanojia said holding back his tears.

Two shooters, Gurmail Baljit Singh and Dharamraj Rajesh Kashyap have been arrested in connection with the case while a manhunt is on to nab the third shooter, Shiv Kumar.

The Mumbai Police have suspected the involvement of Lawrence Bishnoi's gang in Baba Siddique's murder. One Pravin Lonkar was also arrested by Mumbai Police's Crime Branch for allegedly enlisting two of the three shooters.

The cops were also on the lookout for Pravin's brother Shubham Lonkar who uploaded a post on Facebook claiming the Lawrence Bishnoi gang had taken responsibility for the NCP leader's murder.
