In a gut-wrenching incident, a jeweller was shot dead by another jeweller in Punjab's Amritsar.

According to a report from India Today, the incident happened following a dispute over gold. Soon after the incident, the accused was arrested by the police.

In the alleged video, it was seen that a man came out of a shop while having an altercation with another man. The accused was then seen firing at the victim, upon which the victim fell on the ground. The accused then ran away from the spot.

According to the information, the incident happened in the Hussainpura Chowk area of Amritsar and the accused has been identified as Jasdeep Singh Chann. The police said that the incident happened when the accused Jasdeep Singh Chann, came to the shop of Simranpal Singh, with his family on January 10. However, while purchasing gold, an argument broke out between Simranpal and Chann, following which Chann left the shop.

Later, Chann came back to the shop of Simranpal and shot him in the head. Simranpal died on the spot. The CCTV footage of the incident revealed that Chann fired at Simranpal as the locals tried to stop him.

Amritsar police said that the accused was known to the victim. The officer added that the accused, Jasdeep Singh Chann, was arrested under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

A senior official of the Amritsar Police, while giving out the details of the case, said, "The accused, Jasdeep Singh Chann, has been arrested, and a case has been registered against him. Jasdeep Singh Chann had visited Simarpal Singh's shop with his family on Friday, where a dispute arose over a gold transaction. At that time, Jasdeep left the place but returned a few hours later. After another argument, he shot Simarpal Singh, leading to his death due to a gunshot wound to the head."
