AAP leader and Okhla MLA Amanatullah Khan has alleged that he is being implicated in a false case. In a letter to Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora, Khan said that he has not absconded and is in his constituency.
According to news agency ANI, Amanatullah Khan wrote in the letter, "I am in my assembly constituency; I have not fled anywhere. Some people from Delhi Police are implicating me in a false case… The person whom Delhi Police had come to arrest has already got bail... The police are implicating me in a false case to hide their mistake."
An FIR was registered against Khan for allegedly leading an attack on a police team in Delhi's Jamia Nagar.
The Delhi Police South East District and Crime Branch team are conducting raids to arrest the Okhla MLA. The AAP MLA has been charged under sections related to gathering a crowd, trying to spoil the atmosphere, rioting, and organised crime.
The police slapped sections 111, 191(2) of the Indian Penal Code. On Monday, the crime branch team had gone to the Jamia area to arrest a man, Shabaz Khan, an accused in an attempt to murder case. This was when Amanatullah Khan along with his supporters allegedly attacked the police team and allowed the accused to escape.
However, the supporters of AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan reportedly confronted the police team due to which Shabaz fled the spot. According to police sources, Amanatullah Khan was present at the scene when the attack occurred allowing the accused to flee.
