Hundreds of tourists stranded mid-air after a technical fault hit the Gulmarg Gondola on Monday have now been rescued safely, officials said. The cable car service was temporarily suspended following the malfunction, triggering panic among visitors at the popular tourist destination.
Rescue Operation Completed
Officials said trained rescue teams were rushed to the spot immediately after the technical snag was detected in the cable car system. Tourists remained suspended for nearly an hour before being evacuated safely.
The Indian Army said rescue operations were jointly carried out by Chinar Corps, Army personnel and Gulmarg Gondola operators. Authorities confirmed that all stranded passengers have now been brought down safely.

Omar Abdullah Assures Safety
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said the government was closely monitoring the situation and stressed that there was “no cause for panic”.
He said all cabins remained intact and the situation was fully under control.
Multiple Cabins Affected
Officials said several cabins were affected during the disruption. Rescue teams used emergency procedures to evacuate tourists one by one as technical staff worked to restore the system.
The gondola service remains under inspection and authorities are expected to examine the cause of the malfunction.
