Former Wipro CEO Thierry Delaporte, who stepped down from his position in April, received hefty compensation of $20 million (approximately Rs 166 crore) for the financial year 2023-24 (FY24). This substantial payout has positioned him as the highest-paid CEO within the Indian IT services sector.


Following Delaporte, the chief executives of mid-cap companies Coforge and Persistent Systems have also secured prominent places among the top earners. These executives have earned more than their peers at major firms such as Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Infosys during the last financial year, reported The Economic Times on Friday.

According to the news reports, Coforge CEO Sudhir Singh earned $12.5 million (Rs 105.12 crore) in annual remuneration for FY24, securing the second-highest position behind Thierry Delaporte. Following Singh, HCLTech CEO C. Vijayakumar ranked third, with a yearly compensation of $10.06 million (Rs 84.17 crore).


Sandeep Kalra of Persistent Systems earned $9.1 million (Rs 77.1 crore) for the financial year 2023-24, placing him prominently on the list. Infosys CEO Salil Parekh secured the fifth position with an annual compensation of $7.8 million (Rs 66 crore). 


Following Parekh, Mphasis CEO Nitin Rakesh earned $5.2 million (Rs 44.13 crore). K Krithivasan, who assumed the role of CEO at TCS in June 2023, earned $3 million (Rs 25.2 crore) in FY24. Additionally, Debashis Chatterjee, CEO of LTI Mindtree, received a total compensation of $2.3 million (Rs 19.34 crore) for the year.


In April, Randstad India released a report which stated that the average corporate salary increment for FY24 was anticipated to be between 8 and 11 per cent. However, due to global economic challenges, IT companies were projected to experience one of the lowest increases, with hikes expected to range from 7 to 9 per cent.


On July 18, The Times of India reported that Infosys had given its employees an average salary increase of 9 per cent, while Wipro offered a 9.2 per cent raise. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) provided salary hikes ranging from 7 to 9 per cent for FY24.
