Tech Layoffs: Why The Wave Of Job Cuts Has Hit Women Harder

Tech Layoffs: A 2020 Accenture survey said women employees were leaving tech jobs at a rate higher than that of men. Women in the industry have also increasingly reported lower job satisfaction 

In 2023, data from a layoff-tracking website indicated that over 1,000 companies laid off approx. 260,000 workers. Women comprised 45% of these, but there’s more to this number than meets the eye. Anneka Patel, a former Meta employee, found herself in a fix after being laid off by the US-based company in 2022. She was among 11,000 employees laid off in the exercise, but what added to her misery was that she was still on maternity leave when she was stripped of her job as a communications
