Nobody is unaware of industrialist Ratan Tata’s love for dogs and how he leaves no stone unturned to do his bit for them. On Wednesday, the former chairman of Tata Sons turned to Instagram with an urgent plea. A dog, currently hospitalised at his Small Animal Hospital in Mumbai, is in critical condition and needs a blood donor. His Instagram post provided specific details about the dog's condition and called upon the people of Mumbai to come forward and assist immediately.

"I would really really appreciate your help," wrote the industrialist and philanthropist. He shared that his animal hospital's medical team urgently requires blood for a 7-month-old dog diagnosed with suspected tick fever and severe anaemia. He also outlined the eligibility criteria for donor dogs and included a picture of the ailing animal.

Reiterating his plea for assistance, he posted the same image on his Instagram story with a direct appeal: "Mumbai, I need your help."

The post quickly became viral, accumulating hundreds of thousands of likes and continuing to grow. In addition, it has also sparked a flurry of comments from the public.

One Instagram user wrote, “Shared your post sir you are a inspiration you are light in the end of tunnel for these innocent animals.”

“You are the most kind person sir through your actions and genuine commitment to improving lives,” wrote another user. A third user commented, “Most down-to-earth businessman”. A fourth wrote, “If Ratan Tata sir can do it, then why can’t we?”

This is not the first time that Ratan Tata has used the media to seek aid for distressed dogs. Earlier, he used Instagram to help with the reunion of a rescued dog with its owners. “My office found an abandoned/lost dog last night at Sion Hospital, Mumbai. If you are his guardian or have any leads, please email reportlostdog@gmail.com with some evidence of ownership. Meanwhile, he is in our care and is being treated for his wounds,” he wrote in the share posted last year.
