Oyo founder Ritesh Agarwal’s father Ramesh Agarwal died on Friday after falling from a high-rise in Gurugram.


According to news reports, Agarwal fell from the building's 20th floor at 1 pm, leading to the fatal injuries. Police have started investigation. 


According to news agency ANI, Vijender Vij, DCP East, Gurugram, in a statement said that Ramesh Agarwal (father of Oyo founder Ritesh Agarwal) died after falling off the 20th floor in DLF The Crest, Sector 54, Gurugram. Gurugram police visited the spot at Sector 53. 


"Inquest report u/s 174 CrPC carried out. A team along with SHO sec 53 visited the place of occurrence. Postmortem done and body handed over to the family members."






According to news reports, Ramesh Agarwal was living in an apartment in the high-rise along with his wife. His son's residence is not based in the same building.


A spokesperson of Oyo confirmed the demise of Ramesh Agarwal. Ritesh Agarwal also issued a statement, noting that his father has passed away.


"With a heavy heart, my family and I, would like to share that our guiding light and strength, my father, Shri Ramesh Agarwal passed away on 10 March. He lived a full life and inspired me and so many of us, every single day," he said.


"His death is a tremendous loss for our family. My father’s compassion and warmth saw us through our toughest times and carried us forward. His words will resonate deep in our hearts. We request everyone to respect our privacy in this time of grief," the statement added.


The tragic incident has took place three days after Ritesh Agarwal got married to Geetansha Sood, the director of Farmation Ventures in New Delhi, in a ceremony that was attended by several leading figures, including Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Softbank Chairman Masayoshi Son, Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma, and others.
