Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday urged the Indian automobile industry to capitalise on the growth opportunities available and pay special attention to customer service, after-sales and quality assurance.
Speaking via a video message at the Auto Retail Conclave organised by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA), the Road Transport and Highways Minister said that auto dealers are playing a crucial role in helping the government complete the mission of a self-reliant India.
“The automotive industry is at the cusp of the revolution, and as we look to the future, it is critical that the sector continues to innovate, especially in areas like customer service, after-sales and quality assurance. As a distributor of automobiles, you play a pivotal role in the government mission of 'make in India' and contribute significantly to realising our vision of self reliant India,” the minister said.

Gadkari said that the government understands the importance of FADA in driving the growth of the Indian economy. “I want to assure you of the government support to auto retail sector in every possible way,” he noted.
The Union Minister said that the auto retail sector contributes strongly to the GDP with an annual revenue of Rs 40,000 crore and contributes Rs 95,000 crore in various taxes and levies to both central and state governments.
Gadkari added that the influence of the sector extends beyond to sectors such as finance, insurance, and eventually creates a mutliplier impact across the domestic economy. “The government's vision for the future of mobility is one of sustainability, innovations and safety. We are working towards making into a global leader in green mobility solution,” he stated.
